Jonchi
In 1802 Anna Cathalina Joontje was the owner of the land on which a fine and elegant country house now stands. It is built in a rather unique neoclassical style, with a stylish driveway, and differs completely from the traditional Curaçao plantation house.
The country house was formerly also known as Quinta Edna or Mon Repos. It was laid out at the end of the 19th century by the businessman Jesurun on the very fertile land of 2.25 hectares. He laid out an orchard here and in 1888, like his brother at Groot Kwartier, was one of the first on Curaçao to place several windmills. This gave him sufficient water for his livestock and orangeries. Several water sources at Jonchi are still in use, so that the former plantation house has a lush garden.
A trust office is currently housed in the building.
