La Fama
If you drive up from Saliña de Grebbelinieweg and take the first little road on the right, you drive straight into the neighbourhood of La Fama. Together with, among others, Cher Asil it was once part of Monte Verde and the property of the Dominican businessman Leopoldo Camarena, who had settled on Curaçao as the agent for the well-known Dominican cigarettes of the brand La Fama. Thanks to this agency he became a wealthy man, so that he could buy the then very extensive Monte Verde, which he renamed "Villa La Fama". But only this part of his then extensive landholdings still bears this name. La Fama was also called Villa La Fama or San Hose. La Fama borders in the west on the Catholic cemetery of Berg Altena, in the north on the Kaminda Saliña, in the east on the Grebbelinieweg and in the south on Cher Asil.
